MMC EVENTS OFFER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT UNITS
The Metropolitan Mathematics Club is now an provider of Continuing Professional Development Units (CPDUs) . The Illinois State Board of Education has authorized MMC to issue CPDUs for attendance at its activities, including the MMC dinner meetings and the MMC Conference of Workshops. These units can be used to satisfy professional development requirements needed for renewal of teaching certificates.
Attendance at a dinner meeting qualifies one CPDU unit. The Annual Conference of Workshops offers three CPDU units. Attendees who want CPDUs must complete an evaluation of the MMC activity on forms that will be available at each event. The evaluation must be completed on site, after which the attendee will receive a certificate for the CPDU credits.
The certificate of CPDU (ISBE form #77-21) is the only record of participation. MMC must store a file of evaluations, but it will not maintain records of CPDU issuance. It is the responsibility of the individual teacher to preserve the certificate as the record of CPDU completion. MMC’s informal certificates for September through December 2000 meetings are valid, but the ISBE form is necessary starting with the January, 2001 meeting. The MMC provider number is 100834. Any questions regarding CPDUs can be directed to John W. McConnell, Ph. D. voice mail and office (847) 421-6546
